Spotlight : New Strategic Plan
The new Strategic Plan for 2007-2012 has been approved and Vice Chancellor, Professor
E. Nigel Harris has described it as transformative, seeking to re-position the University
as “an innovative, contemporary international University, deeply rooted in the Caribbean
and committed to creating the best possible future for all its stakeholders”. Major
targeted areas will be Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovation, and Graduate
Programmes. An OPEN CAMPUS will also be created aimed primarily at providing pre-university,
undergraduate and professional development programmes for students in the UWI-12
(the 12 contributing countries without campuses) as well as to students in Barbados,
Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago who have no access to a campus. Pro-Vice Chancellor

Very Important Pelican (VIP) – this month it is Dr. Roger E. Hunter, Consultant Neurosurgeon. News from the UWI 12 60th Anniversary Celebrations - The UWI will be celebrating its 60th year from January to December 2008. The celebrations will open in Cave Hill in January, there will be a special Convocation at Mona in July and the year will close with special events in St. Augustine .
