We are the IAD

The Institutional Advancement Division (IAD) is responsible for increasing understanding and recognition of The University of the West Indies as a leading teaching & research university, as well as for developing support for the institution.

It serves the entire institution: all four UWI  campuses through the Office of the Vice Chancellor. It is responsible for a wide range of activities for building strong financial and volunteer support and lasting relationships with alumni, donors, students, the wider community, the Diaspora, the media, parents and friends.

The IAD encompasses institutional alumni relations, fundraising,  campaigns, resource development and projects.The IAD also promotes and supports the activities of the American Foundation for The University of the West Indies (AFUWI) located in New York and the British Foundation for The University of the West Indies (BFUWI) as well as  Fundraising initiatives in Canada.

The IAD is responsible for :

RAISER’S EDGE: The central alumni database. FUND RAISING including:

  • The Chancellor’s Circle
  • The UWI Regional Endowment Fund (UWIREF)

  • Canadian Fundraising Initiatives
  • The Vice Chancellor's Cricket Match

FRIEND RAISING including:

  • Coordination and facilitation of institutional Alumni Relations policies and strategies and is the central unit for the UWI Alumni Association Chapters (UWIAA): Monthly teleconferences, annual Central Executive Committee (CEC) Meeting of the UWIAA etc.
  • The regional Vice Chancellor’s Student Ambassador Corps: UWISTAT (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) 
  • The regional Footprints: Students for Development: Annual Student Giving Programme
  • The Vice Chancellor’s Presidents Club
  • UWI Connect: The Alumni Magazine
  • ALUMNI Online: the centralized web and social networking hub for UWI's alumni population
  • The Alumni Experience and Apprenticeship Programmes (AEP and AAP)
  • The regional "Pelican Perks" Programme
