ESTABLISHMENT OF AND TRAINING ON THE NATIONAL CHILD AND FAMILY
INFORMATION NETWORK IN JAMAICA WITH PARTICIPANTS FROM
ANTIGUA & BARBUDA AND TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
On 19-23 September a training course took place for the establishment of National Networks of Child and Family Information Centers in the English-speaking Caribbean countries, thus providing for the integration of the English-speaking community to the Inter-American Child and Family Information Network (RIIN) that is currently composed of 22 countries and a total number of 135 centers throughout the inter-American system.
The purpose of such training is the capture and entry of basic information on children and families in the region into the databases of documents, organizations and projects being developed for the advocacy of the rights of children and families in the Caribbean.
This training counted on the participation of Ms. Alverna Inniss from the Ministry of Labour, Public Administration and Empowerment of Antigua and Barbuda, Ms. Elizabeth Stewart and Ms. Dawn Ramsingh from the Ministry of Social Development of Trinidad and Tobago, Prof. Julie Meeks Gardner and Ms. Kisha Sawyers from the Caribbean Child Development Centre, the University of West Indies of Jamaica, and Ms. Sandra Stubbs from the Main Library of the University of West Indies - Mona of Jamaica.
