Hurricane Flora hit Grenada with winds of 125mph. On Grenada damage was minor but 6 persons lost their lives by drowning. The airport, bridges and roads were damaged. Telephone service was disrupted, and roads were blocked by fallen trees. Damage was estimated at 20,000 Pounds. Grenada was lashed by the storm for nearly 90 minutes and suffered banana crop losses up to 40 % in some areas.

Hurricane Janet passed between Grenada and Carriacou early on the 23rd September 1955. The storm hit Grenada with 115 mph. There was 15 inches of rain in 9 hours and very heavy wind and rain for 9 hours.

Severe rainstorms in Grenada led to 15 persons were killed in Victoria and 13 houses being washed away.
