Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Project Officer, in The Centre for Reparation Research (CRR), University of the West Indies, Vice-Chancellery. The Centre for Reparation Research at The University of the West Indies is seeking to hire a Project Officer for a 1-year term, beginning 1st August 2020.


The Project Officer will be required to work with the Director of the CRR to write project proposals, solicit funded projects and complete projects in a timely manner. The Project Officer will be responsible for maintaining crucial project documents, tracking project progress, organizing meetings and dissemination opportunities for project results and any other tasks assigned by the Director.

The successful applicant will be one who understands and supports the reparation movement and possesses a working knowledge of its rationale and strategy. In addition, the successful applicant will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement,


  • A BSc or equivalent qualification in Caribbean History or related field
  • Proven track-record of fund-raising and successful project management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar post

Core Skills/ Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel;
  • Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and project scheduling computer applications;
  • Excellent research skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent critical and creative thinking and analytical skills; and
  • Demonstrated experience in budget and financial management

The successful applicant should be an analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills; possess a high level of self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals and deadlines; have the ability to work effectively as a team member and independently; and be able to manage multiple priorities and meet short- and long-term deadlines.
