Minimum Qualification

 

A PhD in Geography from a recognized University.

 

Experience

Considerable related academic and professional experience, including:

  • Teaching and research at the tertiary level.
  • A record of distinguished original work;
  • Good publication record in peer reviewed international journals.
  • Outstanding success in and wide recognition of professional activities
  • Membership in reputable professional organizations
  • Active engagement in the industry
  • Proven success in grant acquisition

 

Expertise

A Professor in the broad field of Physical Geography is sought (particularly geomorphology, hydrology or environmental/climate change), although other areas of Geography may be considered. Experience in quantitative methods, particularly statistics and/or GIS, a strong interest in the Caribbean and in linkages between physical geography and cognate subject areas are desirable. Interdisciplinary academics are particularly encouraged to apply, especially those which link human and physical geography.

 

Special Responsibilities

To teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Physical Geography, and to play a significant leading role in the further development of the discipline. To lead and develop research activity and development funding within the subject area. Provide visionary leadership, direction and advocacy for the Department, within the University and in relation to private and public stakeholders at local, regional and international levels.


Personal Attributes

Must possess strong leadership qualities and be a team player with enthusiasm for both teaching and research in the furtherance of the new Geography programme at the institution.
