QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate must possess a Masters Degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D. strongly preferred) in one of the following disciplines: instructional design, instructional systems, distance education, open and distance learning, educational technology, instructional technology or a related discipline. The Curriculum Development Specialist should have project management experience and have at least five (5) years of relevant curriculum design experience preferably in support of a tertiary institution. Candidates should display clear understanding of web based design, online courseware production and, in particular, Internet and enterprise application support for distance education.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be required to:
- manage externally funded curriculum design and development projects and project teams;
- provide expert guidance and advice to all members of the contractor’s instructional design teams on matters related to learning, instructional design, distance education, instructional technology used to support distance learning and the effective management of a distance learning environment;
- support the analysis and evaluation of funding agency proposed academic programmes required to support Open Campus learners or other stakeholders throughout the Caribbean;
- when required, lead contracted curriculum development teams through the analysis, design, development and production of online, classroom based and blended learning courseware;
- monitor the quality of the courseware and learning materials provided to our learners by contractors;
- produce funding proposals and produce funding agency reports and returns;
- support the professional development requirements of Open Campus personnel in their desire for knowledge and skill in instructional design procedures for a wide variety of media, distance delivery methods and classroom instructional techniques; and
- conduct applied research that will help improve the Open Campus learning environment.
