The UWI Colombia Student Exchange Programme has been an annual event since its inception in 2000. To date, 150 UWI students (from all three campuses) and 154 Colombian students and academic staff from 15 universities have participated in summer programmes.

In addition to the obvious language-learning benefits of a period of immersion in a Spanish-speaking environment, the exchange offers an invaluable opportunity for students to broaden their cultural awareness through first-hand experience of a different culture and interaction with its people.

LACC also facilitates an annual Teaching Assistantship Programme between UWI and Colombian universities. To date, 30 UWI Spanish graduates have had one-year attachments at 12 Colombian universities.
