Why Study at SCS?

Many successful people have chosen to study at the School as it provides attractive options for lifelong learning and career development. We offer a wide variety of academic certificate programmes, vocational and professional training as well as access to degree programmes.

Professional Development: The School offers opportunities for persons who understand the importance of keeping abreast of new ideas and concepts in their own related fields of work or in other disciplines to carry out their responsibilities more effectively.

In-country education and training: One of our best advantages is the very nature of the School's structure. We have several locations of the SCS in the Non-Campus Countries and the Campus Countries of the University. The School's mixed mode teaching delivery allows students to organise their time to better fit in with their employment commitments. Many of our programmes offer students the opportunity to study while remaining in full-time employment. In addition, the new skills and ideas learned allow first-hand implementation in the work situation.

Access: The design of our study programmes with entry at several levels allows more students access to the UWI. Places in full-time courses are often limited and working through the School often allows more students to grasp new opportunities for human resource development without these restrictions.

Study at your own pace: We understand that domestic responsibilities and family commitments often prevent able persons from undertaking continuing education programmes. We provide access to UWI's many distance education programmes creating opportunities to help overcome this common constraint.

Cost-effectiveness: It is becoming increasingly difficult for students to undertake full-time residential study, particularly for students in rural districts or in Non-Campus Countries of the Caribbean. The School offers programmes at less cost than a full-time study programme, and most programmes can be spread over manageable periods.
