Dr Roy McCree is a Senior Fellow at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES). He first worked at the Institute as a Graduate Research Assistant from 1991 to 1995, when it was still the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER). He has been a full time member of staff since 1996. His research interests have covered the areas of sport, culture, race relations, policy evaluation and social policy in particular relation to the issues of youth, community development, suicide, social capital and gambling. He has a particular interest, however, in the study of sport and its social, political, economic, cultural and technological significance in the development of modern society. His interests in the study of sport would have been spurred in 1990 through a 6 week academic visit to Goldsmith’s College, University of London, as part of a Commonwealth Educational Exchange programme in which Professors Maureen Cain and David Silverman played an instrumental role. He also has a strong interest in foreign languages (French and Spanish), which he pursued for his BA degree and which led to a three month intensive programme in Spanish at the University of Mérida, Venezuela, in 2000.

A Research report prepared for the Ford Foundation as part of "The Future of the Caribbean Project", UWI, St Augustine: Institute of Social and Economic Research.

1996- Human Development Report for Trinidad and Tobago 1996. This was prepared for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). I was responsible for sourcing, analyzing and writing up all the data for this report.

1998-“Summary of Findings from Public Consultation towards Preparation of National Sport Policy in Trinidad and Tobago.” For Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Government of Trinidad and Tobago. I also formulated first draft of first ever national sport policy of Trinidad and Tobago.
