UWI CONSULTING BEGINS WORK ON UNEP BIOSAFETY FRAMEWORK PROJECT
UWI
CONSULTING has entered into an agreement with UNEP Regional Office for
Latin America and Caribbean in Panama City to support the
implementation of Bio-safety Frameworks in Trinidad and Tobago, St.
Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Barbados, Dominica, Antigua and
Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, the Bahamas, Belize, Grenada, Guyana and
Suriname. Dr. Norma McFarlane Anderson, Professor in the Department of
Biochemistry, UWI, Mona Campus is UWI Consulting’s Project Manager. Dr.
McFarlane Anderson will oversee the work of locally recruited
consultants and will guide the preparation of a project document that
is expected to result in the establishment of a regional bio-safety
institution.
Senior Consultants on this project are Dr. Wayne
McLaughlin of UWI Mona Campus and Mr. George de Berdt Romilly of Nova
Scotia, Canada. They will work closely with Dr. Leonard O’Garro of UNEP
Barbados. The exercise will be concluded 20 August 2009.
