STUDENTS AT RISK
At The University of the West Indies, over three thousand students who were already facing extreme economic hardship are now struggling for day to day survival as a result of lack of funds for food, lodging, laptops, internet services, medicine for chronic diseases, unemployed single parents, tuition, etc. The pandemic has upended not only their lives but their dreams as well.
They are the future leaders of the Caribbean and the very people who will be depended on, not to only provide the research for health matters and other issues endemic to the region, but also the solutions and treatment necessary for the cure and alleviation of these challenges. They will be the people in the trenches and on the front lines in the modern-day world wars fighting to eradicate and eliminate these types of diseases that are existential threats to humanity.
MATCHING FUNDS
The Shine Your Light campaign has a fundraising goal of Fifty Thousand Canadian Dollars. In addition to the funds raised the UWI Toronto Gala in partnership with the Chang Endowment Fund will match dollar for dollar the total raised at the end of the campaign period.

Should you wish to make a donation in Canadian Dollars, please use this Payment Form. Print, complete, scan and email the form to toni@uwitorontogala.org. The UWI is a Qualified Donee with the Canada Revenue Agency, UWI will provide tax receipts for the full amount to all Canadian donors.
