A Gift of HOPE for a student in need

On Friday, November 5, 2021, Dr. Veronica Simon, Head, Student Virtual Concierge Services Unit (SVCSU) shared that Ms. Denise Chapman, a student of the Open Campus Trinidad site had lost all her possessions to a fire.  

This touched the core of the heart of the Campus Officer for Alumni Relations for the Open Campus, Mrs. Sandra Griffith Carrington who immediately sought assistance from the Institutional Advancement Division, through its Head, Ms. Elizabeth Buchanan-Hind.  This resulted in Ms. Chapman being awarded a UWI Toronto Awards Scholarship for the 2021/2022 academic year.

At a UWI STAT Open Campus Executive meeting, she further mentioned Ms. Chapman's plight and with alacrity, the UWI STAT Executive unanimously agreed that they would assist a fellow student.
