Rodgers-Newbold to the post of Head, The University of The West Indies, Open Campus, The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Dr. Rodgers-Newbold’s appointment became effective on Monday, October 15, 2012.

The Open Campus Council of the University of the West Indies (UWI) has approved the appointment of Dr. Barbara A. Rodgers-Newbold to the post of Head, The University of The West Indies, Open Campus, The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Dr. Rodgers-Newbold’s appointment became effective on Monday, October 15, 2012.
 
Brought on to extend the vision and mission of the UWI through the innovative offerings of higher and continuing education from the Open Campus, Dr. Rodgers-Newbold is the first Bahamian to serve in this position and brings extensive knowledge and experience to the post.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of St. Benedict; a Masters degree in Business Administration, with specialization in International Business from the University of Miami; and a Doctoral Degree of Management in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. 
 
Dr. Rodgers-Newbold is also certified in the areas of Advanced Management Studies, Interpersonal Relationship Skills, Behavioral Styles Analyses, and Managing and Facilitating Online Instruction. Most recently, she has served as group facilitator for the Educational Management & Administration course in the Adult & Continuing Education Masters Programme from the UWI Open Campus. She also currently serves as a student supervisor in the University’s graduate programmes. 
 
Dr. Rodgers-Newbold has also worked as a Corporate and Employee Development Training Consultant and an Adjunct Faculty member for several colleges and tertiary institutions in the Bahamas, including The College of The Bahamas Centre for Continuing Education and Extension Services (CEES).  Her wealth of experience also extends into the financial sector, where she held various positions, including being the Vice President of Compliance and Training. 
 
As Head of the University of the West Indies Open Campus in The Bahamas, Dr. Rodgers-Newbold will be directly responsible for overseeing the daily management and administration of the Open Campus, including student matters, the identification and development of adult education needs, and technical and vocational training. 
 
She will also be responsible for identifying research needs in the Bahamas, assisting in the training and education of educators and community leaders, and developing, promoting, and implementing continuing education programmes in accordance with the UWI Open Campus’s community development policy and learning needs.
