Professor Herbert Sukhu
Professor Herbert Sukhu PhD, has been appointed to the key, and strategically important position of Associate Vice President – Research, at the Nature Science Research and Innovation Centre Inc. in Ontario, Canada, (NSRIC).
He is responsible for securing the smooth operations toward establishing a strong Research-based Engineering (EN) Unit under the Research, Innovation, and Development (RID) Division. This administrative position is additional to his regular role as a Distinguished Faculty-Engineering Economics member with the NSRIC RID Division.
There he is responsible for establishing the “EN Unit” as an effective and efficient hub for disseminating knowledge to the world. In addition he holds the portfolio of Continent Director, Marketing (West Coast Africa and CARICOM Region).
Professor Sukhu is a Chartered, Professional, Registered Engineer and Geologist. He is also the founder and Principal Consultant of the Geominex Group of Companies (2004).
He has been involved in applied scientific and engineering research for over 35 years relating to mineral resources research and governance, the application of techno-economics, environmental knowledge and expertise in process, petroleum, mining and quarrying engineering and geology.
Professor Sukhu has over 30 publications and presentations with the CDI ACP of Brussels, UNITAR and the Informa Conference Group. His work in implementation and technology transfer has been applied throughout his profession on over 115 mineral resources sites in 22 countries.
He recently secured funding for research in gold and associated precious metals in the West African Coast. During his expansive career, Professor Sukhu has provided solution leadership and is recognized for outstanding services in education, training and technology development and opening up innovative engineering economic spaces for global mineral resources development.
He graduated from The University of the West Indies- St.Augustine Campus with an MSc Petroleum Engineering. He also attended the University Centre Doncaster ( Doncaster Metropolitan Institute of Higher Ed.) and obtained a Diploma in Quarry Management, Engineering and went to the University College of Cardiff, Wales, UK where he obtained a BSc (Hons) in Mineral Exploitation - Geology and Engineering and attended the University of Trinidad and Tobago where he received a PhD in Process Engineering (Energy Studies).
