UWIAA Incoming Alumni and Council Representatives
Craig Tuckett will be the 2021- 23 Alumni Representative and will serve for two years. Dwayne Haynes will be the 2021-22 Council Representative and will serve for one year. Both appointments are effective August 1, 2021. They will serve on the University Finance and General Purposes Committee, University Appointments Committee and the University Council; will give input from the alumni perspective and will liaise with the Director of Alumni Relations, Institutional Advancement Division (IAD) to promote alumni engagement and philanthropy.
They will be in contact with the Presidents of all Alumni Chapters to ensure the UWIAA Chapters remain vibrant, relevant and committed to promoting the University and will work closely on alumni matters with the Director, Alumni Relations - IAD, Campus Alumni Officers and other relevant bodies or organisations for example.

Under Craig’s leadership the UWIAA St Kitts and Nevis Chapter won awards for being the most active chapter for 3 consecutive years, including raising the most money in one year; had 4 successful UWI Global Giving events under the patronage of the Governor General of St. Kitts & Nevis- H.E. Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, and hosted the UWI Open Campus graduation ceremony in 2016. Chapter outreach activities included recruitment visits to high schools, raising awareness in the national media and establishing the first ever Pelican Perks. He has kept connected to his members during the COVID-19 pandemic, established the UWIAA SKN WhatsApp group and continued activities via Zoom. As he served as the UWIAA Council Representative for 2 consecutive one year terms, he brings this experience to his new role. He is an attorney-at-law, and having owned a business, also knows successful operational and administrative practices. He is a double UWI graduate, having attended both the Cave Hill and St. Augustine campuses.
Under Dwayne’s leadership, the UWIAA Jamaica Chapter has increased their membership and increased alumni involvement with the Mona campus, with presence at events like the Valedictory Service, Homecoming and the UWI Quality Day. The Chapter has also spearheaded philanthropic alumni efforts as regards to funds for data plans and laptops for students impacted by Covid-19 and the volcanic eruption in St. Vincent & the Grenadines for example. He has already served one year as the UWIAA Council Representative and thus has valuable experience to bring back to the position. He works at the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service in Kingston Jamaica, where he deals with the negotiations of government loans, grants, and technical assistance from Jamaica's International Development Partners (IDB, World Bank, UN, USAID, FCDO, IMF). He has served as PRO for the Jamaica Chapter of the Caribbean Tertiary Level Personnel Association, and is a former member of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation's Water IQ Initiative (WIQI). He holds a BSc. in Management Studies from the Mona campus and is currently finalizing his MSc. in International Public Development Management.
