Church Service at the Holy Family Episcopal Church in Miami Gardens with the UWIAA Florida Chapter on Sunday, March 18th

The Director of Alumni Relations for the UWI, Mrs. Celia Davidson Francis attended the special Church Service at the Holy Family Episcopal Church in Miami Gardens with the UWIAA Florida Chapter on Sunday, March 18th. She delivered a Message highlighting developments through the UWI's 70 years and then introduced a video showing the UWI Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckle's 70th Message which was also very well received.  The Chapter members were delighted with the turnout as persons came from West Palm Beach, Coral Springs, Lauderhill, Fort Lauderdale and other places as well. Father Howard Ward is a UWI graduate and welcomed alumni to celebrate in his church. Three other clergy are also UWI graduates.  There was a parade of the flags of the UWI countries to start the service. There were graduates from St. Kitts, and Grenada as well as Jamaicans. The Florida Chapter is enthused by the turnout and this has given us the momentum to really go all out for the remaining 70th activities planned for later in the year. This event helped to raise UWI's profile as it was promoted on radio and our alumna  Pat Montague who has a very popular radio show assisted and will help on a regular basis.  The Chapter President, Dr. Carmen Nicholas noted "We were pleased to present Celia Davidson Francis with a special award during the "Meet and Greet" after the service for her dedication and support of the Florida Chapter."
