Conference on Sport and Higher Education

{gallery}http://www.flickr.com/photos/theuwi/sets/72157642268114053/{/gallery} The UWI in collaboration with the First Citizens Sports Foundation hosted a conference on sport and higher education from January 15-18th, 2014, titled "Science, Higher Education and Business: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Sports Studies, Research and Development". Despite developments in higher education in sport, it has been recognized that there remains a significant void with respect to the body of Caribbean-oriented sport research and scholarship which connects to both development of sports and the use of sport for development. Therefore, the conference aimed to help fill this void as well as rationalise existing local initiatives in higher education.

Feature speaker was Jay Coakley, Professor Emeritus, Sociology Department, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
