Professorial Inaugural Lecture: Professor Gyan Shrivastava
{gallery}http://www.flickr.com/photos/theuwi/sets/72157641511130825/{/gallery} On January 30, 2014, the Open Lectures Committee of The UWI St. Augustine Campus hosted the Professorial Inaugural Lecture presented by Professor Gyan Shrivastava titled "River Mechanics - Linking Engineering and Society " at Engineering Lecture Theatre 1, Block 13, Max Richards Building, Faculty of Engineering.
These Professorial Inaugural lectures aim to showcase the research of our campus' recently appointed or promoted Professors for members of the wider community. Shrivastava is Senior Lecturer and Professor of Coastal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Engineerin. A national of India, he is also former Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and was awarded a BPTT Fellowship to the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London. He sees rivers as major interest to civil engineers for water supply, irrigation, bridge construction, power generation, navigation, drainage, and wastewater effluent disposal.
