Duke University Partners with UWI Press to sell books in the Caribbean

The University of the West Indies Press (UWI Press) is pleased to announce that effective July 1, 2019, it will be an authorised agent for Duke University Press. 
 
This landmark memorandum of agreement was signed on May 21, 2019. Through this collaboration, Duke University Press’ books will be available to the retail, wholesale and educational markets in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Navassa Island, Nueva Esparta, Puerto Rico, Saba, San Andrés and Providencia, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Eustatius, Saint Maarten, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the United States Virgin Islands.
 
According to Dr Joseph B. Powell, director of UWI Press, “This partnership between two presses that are internationally renowned for their gold-standard, award-winning content certainly is a testimony to the strength of UWI Press’ ability to disseminate and sell Caribbean material in an efficient and cost-effective manner in the competitive global environment.”  
 
The UWI Press is a non-profit publisher of scholarly books in sixteen academic disciplines. It is particularly known for its works in Caribbean history, Caribbean cultural studies, Caribbean literature, Caribbean linguistics, gender studies, environmental studies, education, and political science. UWI Press books are peer-reviewed and approved by an editorial committee composed of local and international scholars and the Press has over 400 books in print.
Duke University Press is an academic publisher and university press affiliated with Duke University. It was founded in 1921 and publishes approximately 140 books annually and more than 50 academic journals, as well as multiple electronic collections.
