Fellow UWI Pelicans, As we mark this Easter season of reflection and renewal, we honour the many faiths and traditions that shape our diverse UWI family. While our paths may differ, we are united by shared values—kindness, peace, unity, and the hope of a better world. May this time inspire us to live those values through our actions. Wishing all Pelicans renewed purpose and strength as we continue working together for a more just and connected Caribbean. At present, we remain in challenging and ever-changing times: marked by global uncertainty, burnout, budget reductions, and more. Many of us are being asked to do more —with less. Now is the time to lean into our creativity, innovation and inclusion. Now is the time to be brave enough to take some risks that may not succeed. Ideally go in with a backup plan but do not fear failure. Productivity does not equal output – it is a fact that “busy-ness” is not a sign of productivity and as leaders we must emphasize that output and outcomes are what counts. Importantly, let us always be kind to ourselves. We will not have all the answers, however we must persevere and also not be afraid to seek out new ideas. I have found this mantra useful and use it daily (sometimes hourly depending on how the day is going!) and share it with you – “Despite rapid changes and challenges, today I will act with purpose and remain focused and agile.” Each one of us can only do our best and no more. Be well and stay safe my Pelican family! Warmest wishes, Celia
