In Focus: RASTAS’ JOURNEY ‘HOME’

In Focus: RASTAS’ JOURNEY ‘HOME’

In 2016, 50 years after Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie visited Jamaica and received an Honorary Degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI), his grandson Prince Ermias visited Jamaica and we hosted a commemorative exhibition with the Rootz Foundation.

During the three weeks from November 8, we will be hosting a photographic exhibition of photographs from Ethiopia taken by Maria Stratford as a complement to a documentary titled Rastas’ Journey ‘Home’. Dr Stratford, who teaches in Australia and who lived for a time in Jamaica, made the film as a part of her PhD which, she notes, was part project and part dissertation.
She will be at the UWI Museum for the duration of the exhibition and has indicated that she will be pleased to get responses to her work.
