Tribute to Susan Belgrave - UWI Alumna and Lead BFUWI Trustee

UWI alumna, esteemed Employment Barrister and Lead Trustee of the British Foundation of The University of the West Indies (BFUW), Susan Belgrave, was a remarkable lady and she will be greatly missed.

She was an invaluable asset to the BFUWI, immeasurably enriching and assisting the Foundation’s visibility and effectiveness. She was appointed as a BFUWI Trustee in 2011 and served under both Vice Chancellor Emeritus, E. Nigel Harris and the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles; both of whom admired her professionalism,  diligence and her consistent efforts and initiatives to support the work of the BFUWI. She worked tirelessly in the United Kingdom on behalf of The UWI, often making personal sacrifices to ensure all activities were executed with success and excellence

Susan was called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 1989 having completed her law degree as a direct entrant in Barbados at Cave Hill Campus of The UWI. There she was awarded the Barbados Bar Association prize for being first in her class of 120 students.

She was, incontestably, one of the BFUWI and The UWI's greatest stalwarts. The UWI has lost a committed Pelican and supporter who will be greatly missed.

Our deepest and most sincere condolences to her parents, children, other loved ones, fellow BFUWI Trustees, many colleagues and friends. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
