The UWI Alumni Association on Security of Students at The UWI Campuses

The collective Chapters of the UWI Alumni Association are deeply concerned about the security of students at St. Augustine, and indeed all the UWI campuses. Student security is of paramount importance and we trust that the administration at St. Augustine will work with students to take all necessary steps to ensure safety on or around the campus.

Student lives and their well-being matters and the recent attack on our most valuable resource-our students, who are our future alumni, is most unfortunate and disheartening. We encourage the administration to take urgent corrective and preventative measures to ensure that there are no future occurrences.

The UWI Alumni Association remains committed to fostering and maintaining lifelong relationships with our students and we wish our students to know that the alumni will always “have their backs” particularly in terms of their safety and security. All the Chapters of the UWI Alumni Association stand together with both students and administrators of all the UWI campuses in this regard, as this is unfortunately a problem that exists on all university and college campuses globally. We are of course primarily concerned about our UWI and we underscore the need to remain unified as solutions are sought to make our campuses safer for all.

The UWI Alumni Association wishes to further remain students that they can call upon their UWI Alumni Family for any assistance and support as we want to ensure their University life experience is profoundly enriching with positive memories.
