April 14, 2011 saw the historic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of the West Indies Open Campus Belize and UNICEF Belize. This partnership agreement focuses on building national institutional capacities to guarantee, achieve and maintain the well-being of children and adolescents in Belize. The UWI Open Campus and UNICEF share the common goal of ensuring the well-being of children and adolescents. UNICEF believes that institutional capacity building provided by the University of the West Indies Open Campus, which specializes in online education and training, multi-mode teaching and learning services through virtual and physical site locations, makes them an ideal partner to help create a legacy in educational development beyond 2011.
