Professor Rosemary Moodie

Professor Rosemary Moodie MBBS ’82 (Department of Paediatrics University of Toronto and Inaugural Board Director of Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital) has been honoured as the 2017 Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander by the Government of Jamaica for outstanding contribution in philanthropy, community development and medicine in the Jamaican Diaspora in Canada. She is Senior Accreditor with Accreditation Canada and has led the YWCA Toronto to open Canada’s largest affordable housing program for low-income women and women fleeing violence. Prof. Moodie was congratulated by the Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica for her “outstanding career accomplishments matched by her exemplary service as volunteer, mentor and coach to ensure the well-being of the more vulnerable members of society”. Her past recognitions are the City of Toronto Equity Access and Human Rights Constance E. Hamilton Award for Status of Women, University of Toronto Alumni Community Engagement Award and Rotman School of Management Top 10 High Achieving Women, Canadian Paediatric Society Distinguished Community Paediatrician Award, CPSO Council Award and RCPSC Prix d’Excellence/Specialist Award.
