Stella Jackman-Ryan

Stella Jackman-Ryan, earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology and clinical psychology, respectively, from The University of the West Indies. She hails from Trinidad and Tobago and is a Fulbright Laspau Award recipient and has joined the NC State College of Education as a doctoral student in educational psychology. The Fulbright Laspau Award, affiliated with Harvard University and sponsored by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is an international exchange programme designed to increase mutual understanding between the America and foreign countries.

She will study under Fulbright Scholar and NC State College of Education, Associate Professor Margaret Thomson. Her research will investigate assessment and enhancement of teacher motivation strategies to impact students’ psycho-social functioning and promote self-determination, academic volition and classroom engagement in preadolescent and early adolescent students. Jackman-Ryan facilitated student mental health services as a consultant to the Ministry of Education in Trinidad and Tobago and also taught for ten years on a part time basis.
