Alumni Ambassador scores Chevening!

Franz George is a Lecturer, Organisational Consultant and Youth Advocate. He has lectured Sociology and Caribbean Studies at the 6th form level for the past 2 years. He is also the lead Organisational Consultant for his consultancy, Lydian Stone Consulting. Through his consultancy, he helps organisations to identify their problems, and helps them to develop and implement interventions. Franz is also very passionate about youth advocacy. Since 2018, he has been serving as the Caribbean and Americas Region Representative of the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC). Through this role, he has advocated to government officials, and policy makers including those from the United Nations (UN), CARICOM, USAID, and the Commonwealth. His advocacy has been on a myriad of issues those related to youth crime and violence, employment and entrepreneurship, and access to quality education.

Franz will be pursuing a MSc in Industrial/Organisational and Business Psychology at the University College London (UCL). He intends to use this degree as well as Chevening to contribute to the economic and social development of his home country, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He hopes to do this by shifting the culture surrounding quality work and organisational performance in SVG, and by helping to boost efficiency, innovation and impact in organisations and businesses. He hopes that by doing this, he will ultimately contribute to the fulfilment of SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

He is also a UWI STAT Alumni Ambassador and UWI graduate. He attended The UWI Mona and while there was an active and involved UWI STAT Ambassador. He was also a Research Assistant at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute for Social and Economic Studies, a Resident Advisor and Co-Founder and President of the Integrity Action Movement at the Mona Campus. He holds a Masters in the Art of Teaching, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The UWI, Mona.
