Conference on the Economy 2011-Student Debate

{gallery}http://www.flickr.com/photos/theuwi/sets/72157627787245772/{/gallery} This year’s Conference on the Economy (COTE 2011) featured a debate competition which took place on Thursday 29th September, 2011.

The topic debated was “Be it resolved that party politics hinder the achievement of sustainable growth and development in Caribbean economies.” The debate saw a team of undergraduate Economics students going up against a team of undergraduate International Relations students. The Economics team was coached by Dr. Lester Henry while their opponents were being coached by Dr. Maukesh Basdeo.

The debate was judged by three members of staff:
Mrs. Christine Sahadeo from the Department of Management
Dr. Anne Marie Mohammed from the Department of Economics
Mr. Gregory Wallace from the Department of Economics
The moderator for the proceedings was President of The UWI Guild of Students, Amilcar Sanatan.
