Distinguished Open Lecture: Conversations with Prime Ministers

{gallery}http://www.flickr.com/photos/theuwi/sets/72157628111918023/{/gallery} The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine Campus, celebrated the 50th anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago’s independence, with the public series “Conversations with Prime Ministers,” which began on Tuesday 22nd November, 2011.

This first session featured former Prime Minister and President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency Arthur N.R. Robinson.

During this conversation, scheduled at 5:30 pm at The University’s Faculty of Engineering, His Excellency Arthur N.R. Robinson shared his views on the independence experience, his stewardship as Prime Minister and his vision for the future. He addressed a number of topics including the Finance Act of 1966, his alleged involvement with Black Power elements and the No Vote Campaign, inter alia. He then answered questions from the audience.

“Conversations with Prime Ministers,” is a four-part series featuring conversations with the current and former Prime Ministers of Trinidad and Tobago. Subsequent instalments will feature former Prime Ministers, Mr. Basdeo Panday and Mr. Patrick Manning, as well as the current Prime Minister, The Honourable, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
