Professor Terence Seemungal lectures on the Scourge of NCDs

AUGUSTINE, Trinidad And Tobago-University of the West Indies (UWI) Professor of Medicine, Terence Seemungal, delivered his Professorial Inaugural Lecture, on Thursday 10th November, 2011, at 5:30pm, at the UWI St. Augustine Campus.

In his lecture titled, “The Rise of Non-communicable Diseases: definitely not a breath of fresh air!” Professor Seemungal addressed various types of non-communicable diseases, with a special emphasis on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

This lecture was chaired by Professor Vijay Naraynsingh, Head of the Department of Clinical Surgical Sciences, who also gave the welcome address. Professor Clement Sankat, Pro Vice Chancellor and UWI St. Augustine Campus Principal, delivered the opening remarks while Professor Samuel Ramsewak, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, introduced the feature speaker. Dr. Sherry Sandy, Senior Resident and DM Internal Medicine at the Port of Spain General Hospital, closed off the lecture with a vote of thanks.
