Professorial Inaugural Lecture - June George, Professor in Science Education

The lecture titled, “Border crossing: Implications of the information highway for Caribbean education,” addressed the limitations in education systems as it relates to attention paid to the management of transitions within these systems. Drawing upon the concept of “border crossing”, Professor George examined some of the challenges faced by Caribbean students, as they navigate the school system which specifically highlighted challenges and possibilities relating to the teaching of science in Caribbean schools.

The lecture was chaired by Professor Terence Seemungal and Pro Vice Chancellor and Campus Principal, Professor Clement Sankat delivered the Opening Remarks. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Gaynelle Holdip, Acting Director of Curriculum, Planning and Development, Ministry of Education.

Professor George's lecture was held at the Learning Resource Centre, UWI St. Augustine.
