The Percussive Harmonic Instrument (PHI), also known as the 'electric pan'  is the latest technological innovation of  the  Steel Pan Initiatives Project of the University of the West Indies, (St Augustine campus). The PHI is a fully synthesized, MIDI-based instrument which enables the user to access authentic steel pan tones as well as a variety of instrument tones.  The Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts will be hosting a demonstration of the ‘electric pan’ by Darren Sheppard in the Sherlock Theatre at the UWI, Mona. All interested persons are invited. The event is free of cost.
