SM Jaleel signs MOU for UWI-branded bottled water

{gallery}http://www.flickr.com/photos/theuwi/sets/72157633172721582/{/gallery} The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine and SM Jaleel signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a collaborative effort on a range of projects, including the sale of UWI-branded bottled water to the Campus communities at the various UWI Campuses and sites in Trinidad and Tobago. The signing was done at a special ceremony at the Office of the Campus Principal on Wednesday March 20, 2013

Other initiatives under this project include the provision of technical expertise and assistance to SM Jaleel via student interns, research projects and philanthropic activities in collaborative research programmes; support in quality control, certification and analyses. Students of The UWI will also benefit from undergraduate and graduate internship opportunities in various areas of finance, marketing, business management, engineering, IT and other relevant disciplines; and will be involved in further collaborative research in manufacturing and marketing.

The UWI-branded water will be bottled and distributed by SM Jaleel to campus locations beginning with St. Augustine Campus soon..

Professor Vijay Naraynsingh

The recipient of the prestigious 2015 CARICOM Science Award is UWI graduate, Professor Vijay Naraynsingh, who hails from the UWI Medical Faculty, St. Augustine. Former awardees include distinguished scientists such as Professor Emerit Harold Ramkissoon from Trinidad and Tobago, and Professor Gerald Lalor from Jamaica. The CARICOM Science Award overseen by CARISCIENCE and CARICOM, was first introduced in 2006 by the then Prime Minister, for Science and Technology in CARICOM the Rt Honorable Dr Keith Mitchell and recognizes leading Caribbean scientists.
