These shocks have resulted in devastating impacts for people, economies, livelihoods and the environment.
Without accurate information about climate change, its consequences will continue to escalate, impacting vulnerable communities and ecosystems. Insufficient climate change education hinders efforts to mitigate climate action, calls for climate justice and access to climate financing to fund critical actions.

The UWI and Climate Education

Climate change education is a priority for The UWI. It is the first educational institution in the Caribbean to develop an online hub. In 2019, the International Association of Universities selected The UWI to mobilise higher education and research institutions for sustainable development.
The Open Society Foundations (OSF) funded Climate Education, Justice and Literacy Hub - is a repository of information in support of Agenda 2030 with climate justice, climate literacy and education as the focus. This online hub is grounded in the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - SDG 4 (Quality Education with a focus on youth engagement), SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) will be at the forefront of our work.
