Dr Letetia Mary Addison is an award-winning educator, statistician and researcher at Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine Campus. She holds a PhD in Mathematics, with High Commendation, from The UWI and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (UK Higher Education Academy). Her expertise in applied statistics and the intersection of artificial intelligence and climate resilience, underpins her leadership of major grant-funded and internationally supported projects addressing climate-health and disaster resilience in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS). 

Dr Addison leads the AI4SIDS Project, a COP29 Global AI Innovation Challenge-winning initiative that uses machine learning, geospatial data and large language models to strengthen multi-hazard early warning and risk communication. Her research also spans responsible AI governance and data-driven applications for early warning, coastal vulnerability, blue-carbon monitoring and climate-health resilience. 

Her leadership roles include Deputy Chair of The UWI Disaster Risk Reduction Centre Advisory Board, Vice-Chair of the IEEE initiative on AI for Improved Public Health and Climate-Resilient Health Systems, and Women in Data Science Trinidad and Tobago Ambassador. She has also served as UNESCO’s National Lead Expert for the Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Methodology in Trinidad and Tobago, contributing to efforts to advance ethical AI and climate-resilient development.
