Abstract
In this chapter, the authors describe the design process of a rapid-response project that combined knowledge from several disciplines to design and implement a mobile phone application to raise awareness of the risks of Covid-19 in Jamaica. They discuss the framing of the project, the challenges that emerged during the design and implementation of a pilot application, and the process by which members of the team discussed and compromised on recommendations in order to achieve a concrete outcome within the proposed time frame. The epidemiological estimates were approximate, derived from a variety of sources over various stages of the pandemic. As such, they needed to be carefully presented to avoid misunderstanding or false affirmations.
