Pursuant to the recommendations of the Caribbean Accrediting Authority for Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) steps have been taken to better coordinate the delivery of Medical Sciences programmes across the University. Accordingly, the designation ‘University Dean’ has been revived for this Faculty and Professor Henry Fraser appointed to the position. Also, a Curriculum Coordinating Committee, in addition to the Committee of Deans of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, has been set up.
On a related note, the upgrading of the School of Clinical Medicine and Research at Cave Hill to a full-fledged Faculty of Medical Sciences has been completed, while the Clinical Programme in the Bahamas has been reconfigured and is now the UWI School of Clinical Medicine and Research, Bahamas, headed by Professor Howard Spencer as Dean. Indeed, Professor Spencer has been appointed Coordinator of all the UWI Operations in the Bahamas, including, for the interim, the UWI Open Campus.
