The Vice Chancellor’s Cricket Week has become a tradition in regional cricket over the last ten years. The week long event features a wide range of cricket activities involving local, regional and international cricketers. In April 2005, Ridley Jacobs led the Vice Chancellor’s XI against South Africa at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Cricket Grounds at UWI, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. The 2006 match took place in Antigua and the Vice Chancellor's XI beat the Zimbabwe team. Plan on joining us in 2007 for another exciting match.

“There is no doubt that cricket in the West Indies in much more than just a game. Not unlike The University of the West Indies, cricket symbolizes our “West Indianness”; it embodies the aspirations, the human potential of our people waiting to be unleashed, and both institutions are important means of promoting integration in the region. The University is committed to the resuscitation and development of the sport of cricket and has already made significant investment on all three campuses towards this end, both in terms of physical facilities and in promoting serious study of the history and art of the game.” Professor E. Nigel Harris, Vice Chancellor
