The UWI is committed to providing all students and staff with professional tools and software to support increased efficiency of teaching and learning as well as research and project management needs. These tools and software can be accessed freely by current students and staff, both on and off-campus, but vary across The UWI’s five campuses. A complete list of the tools and software available follows.
 

FIVE ISLANDS CAMPUS

  •  ProSuite QDA Miner 
QDA Miner is an easy-to-use qualitative data analysis software for organizing, coding, annotating, retrieving, and analyzing collections of documents and images. QDA Miner qualitative data analysis tool may be used to analyze interview or focus group transcripts, legal documents, journal articles, speeches, even entire books, as well as drawings, photographs, paintings, and other types of visual documents.

CAVE HILL CAMPUS

  • EndNote - EndNote is an essential reference management tool, that helps you save time, stay organized, collaborate with colleagues, and ultimately, get published. So, you can focus on what matters most: your ideas.
  • IBM SPSS - IBM SPSS Statistics is a powerful statistical software platform. It offers a user-friendly interface and a robust set of features that lets your organization quickly extract actionable insights from your data. Advanced statistical procedures help ensure high accuracy and quality decision-making. All facets of the analytics lifecycle are included, from data preparation and management to analysis and reporting.
  • NVIVO - NVivo is a qualitative data analysis (QDA) computer software package that helps qualitative researchers to organise, analyse and find insights in unstructured or qualitative data like interviews, open-ended survey responses, journal articles, social media and web content, where deep levels of analysis on small or large volumes of data are required.

MONA CAMPUS

  • MATLAB - MATLAB is a programming and numeric computing platform used to analyse data, develop algorithms, and create models. 
  • Reference Manager -  Reference Manager is a reference management application that helps store, organize, note, share and cite references and research data, simplifying your research workflow.
  • Qualtrics - Qualtrics Experience Management (XM) is the only software platform that helps brands continually assess the quality of their four core experiences—customers, employees, products, and brands.
  • PSPP - GNU PSPP is a program for statistical analysis of sampled data. It is a free as in freedom replacement for the proprietary program SPSS, and appears very similar to it with a few exceptions.
  • Octave - Octave is software featuring a high-level programming language, primarily intended for numerical computations.
  • Open Projects - OpenProject is a web-based project management system for location-independent team collaboration, supporting projects throughout the whole life-cycle.
  • ProjectLibre - ProjectLibre Cloud is a web-based project management application intended ultimately as a standalone replacement for Microsoft Project which it closely emulates.
  • XMind - XMind is a mind mapping and brainstorming software. In addition to the management elements, the software can be used to capture ideas, clarify thinking, manage complex information, and promote team collaboration.
Staff Request
Staff has to complete a software request form and get it authorized by the HOD and then return to softwareadmin@uwimona.edu.jm or jeremydane.ferguson@uwimona.edu.jm This form is available at https://www.mona.uwi.edu/mits/software-request-form
Once this has been received the request will be sent to the helpdesk for them to assign someone to do the installation.

OPEN CAMPUS

  • JASP - JASP is a cross-platform software program with a state-of-the-art graphical user interface. The JASP interface allows you to conduct statistical analyses in seconds, and without having to learn programming or risking a programming mistake.

To access, visit the staff or student portal and log in by clicking "MyOC" from the website's home page, then enter your ID and password to enter the portal. Search the located on the right side of the right for the "Software and Tools".
