Assistant Registrar

Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Registrar- Recruitment, Admissions and Registration in The University of the West Indies Open Campus.

 

The candidate must possess a Masters degree or its equivalent and a minimum of five years experience in administration.  Some experience in the administration of student affairs, particularly in a distributed environment, would be an asset.

 

The successful candidate will inter alia be required to: 

  • Develop and implement appropriate strategies for the marketing of the Campus’ programmes and courses, in consultation with the University’s and the Campus’ Marketing & Communications Office.
  • Develop and maintain systems and procedures for the processing and verification of student applications
  • Develop and maintain systems and procedures for the processing, storing and appropriate use of registration data.
  • Monitor and ensure that information provided, particularly responses to enquiries from applicants and students, is both timely and accurate.
  • Ensure that appropriate procedures are in place to administer students’ request for leave of absence from a course of study, applications for exemptions and credits, transfer of course marks from one semester to another, and other matters related to the students’ academic progress.

Personal Attributes

The successful applicant should have:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of students.
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of management information systems.  Familiarity with the Banner Student Administrative System would be an asset.
  • Experience in working within a changing technical environment.
  • Experience in working in a distributed environment
