English as a Foreign Language

LACC offers English Language courses for foreign students (non-native speakers of English) in Jamaica. In terms of cost, Jamaica is an attractive alternative for Latin American countries:

• Students are housed in student residences on the Mona Campus, sharing with Jamaican and other students and enjoying all the services offered by the University (libraries, computer labs, sports centres, bookstore, restaurants, banks, etc.).
• Additionally, airlines generally offer special group rates to foreign students.
• Immersion offers the opportunity to experience Caribbean culture while contributing to the rapid increase in language fluency.

Methodology for Teaching English as a Foreign Language

In conjunction with the School of Educational Studies, the LACC has offered a 4-week Methodology Course for teachers of English as a Foreign Language.

Spanish as a Foreign Language

LACC also offers short tailored courses in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels.

Translation and Interpreting Services

LACC coordinates and provides Translation and Interpreting Services.
