The Policy for Online, Distance and Multimode Learning has been finalized and is now available at

The objective of the policy is to facilitate a coordinated, university-wide approach to the expansion of on-line and distance education and the access of all UWI students to the opportunity to learn via multiple learning modalities.

The Policy was initiated by the Vice Chancellor in May 2007 when a cross-campus Working Group was  establish to arrive at consensus on policy and procedures for online course/programme development and delivery.  After several rounds of discussions with Principals and other stakeholders, the policy was approved by the University F&GPC in May 2008.

A Monitoring Committee was established by the Vice Chancellor to oversee the implementation of the Policy.  This Committee is chaired by Pro Vice Chancellor Board of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Alvin Wint and comprises representatives:

  • Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal Open Campus
  • Pro Vice Chancellor, Board of Graduate Studies Representative
  • Faculties at each campus
  • Information Technology
  • Planning & Development

The Monitoring Committee met in  March and September 2009 and will continue to meet to address any issues relating to this Policy.  Please feel free to send any comments for the attention of the Committee.
