The University Projects Office (UPO) is currently one of twenty-five (25) units of the Vice Chancellery, the central administrative arm of the University of the West Indies. The main responsibilities involve researching, preparing, developing and managing projects for the portfolios of the Vice Chancellery in accordance with their priorities. Project areas include institutional development, infrastructural development and support for academic programme development.
The UPO also provides guidance and support to the University, mainly to the units of the Vice Chancellery and the Open Campus in the areas of technical assistance and securing external grants that are in alignment with the university’s strategic aims. The office is engaged to establish and administer mechanisms and associated procedures as follows:
Mission and Objective Mission: The mission of the University Projects Office: To provide assistance and support to the units of the Vice Chancellery for resource mobilization and institutional development, by creating an environment of measureable, disciplined grantsmanship and project management tools and techniques. To create a basis for consistent success throughout The University, in mobilising and managing grant awards by developing a coordinated and collaborative approach to Grantsmanship and Project Management.
