The University of the West Indies (UWI) is a dynamic international institution, serving primarily the
countries of the Commonwealth Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize,
the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Monsterrat, St. Kitts-Nevis,
St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The
University consists of three main campuses situated at Mona, Jamaica; Cave Hill, Barbados; and St. Augustine,
Trinidad & Tobago, as well as the Centre for Hotel and Tourism Management in Nassau, The Bahamas and 'University
Centres' located one each in the non-campus countries.
Through its nine Faculties, UWI offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as diploma and certificate
programmes. The University aims to provide high quality instructions in a vibrant, congenial teaching and learning
environment. We are committed to producing graduates who will become role models in the societies in which they live.
UWI Distance Education
The University of the West Indies (UWI) Distance Education Centre (DEC), works with faculties of UWI located on the three
campuses in, Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago, as well as with other organizations, to develop and deliver quality
programmes by distance, to meet the learning needs of the people of the Caribbean. There are DEC centres located in all
the English-speaking Caribbean countries that support UWI.
