Banner is the key Student Administrative System used by Cave Hill, Mona and St. Augustine. The features of the system are as follows: facilitating online applications by prospective students, registration using the Web for adding/dropping classes, looking up classes to add, changing class options, viewing fee assessment, viewing withdrawal information, access student records such as holds, grades and academic transcripts.

OCMS is a custom built simple and powerful student management system used by the Open Campus.

Finance System


Technology: Ellucian Banner Finance

Banner Finance is the main financial management system for the University. This is used by all four campuses and the Vice Chancellery. Its main features include management of payables including vendors, staff, and project expenses; management of fixed assets; maintaining records on department and unit incomes and expenses and providing detailed information for donor and financial reporting.

Technology: Google Applications Webmail (Google)

Stay connected from anywhere with Google Apps for Education, everything is automatically saved in the cloud - 100% powered by the web. This means that emails, documents, calendar and sites can be accessed and edited on almost any mobile device or tablet anytime, anywhere. Google Apps is available at the Open Campus.

Microsoft Exchange is an on-premises staff email system for staff members of Cave Hill, Mona and St. Augustine.

Technology: Cross-Campus Voice Connectivity

Inter-Campus Calling the Across Four Campuses Staff members of UWI can now dial directly to other campuses by using the campus identifier followed by the campus 4 digit extension. For Mona Campus dial 6 plus the extension), for Open Campus dial 3 plus the extension, for Cave Hill dial 4 plus the extension and for St. Augustine dial 8 plus extension.

For example from Mona to Cave Hill dial (4+ 2491); Mona (6+8123); St Augustine (8+81234); Open (3+7234)

Eduroam is an integrated wireless service that provides secure and fast wireless internet access from laptops, tablets or smartphones. It is free of charge for students, researchers and staff worldwide. The Eduroam service is coordinated with The UWI and over 60 countries worldwide in areas such as Universities, research centres and libraries.

Alloy Navigator is an enterprise-level IT infrastructure management suite based on ITIL principles providing Service Management & Asset Management. This solution is available at Cave Hill.

Business intelligence and business/learning analytics deals with the ability to aggregate, store, mine and analyze data that can make or break an enterprise. This is potentially transformative technology solution. Various tools are used across the University such as Argos (linked to Banner application) and Business Objects for Executive Dashboard in Vice Chancellery.

Open source software development harnesses the power of distributed peer review and transparency of process. At The UWI we use Dspace (UWISpace) and Moodle Learning Management.

Maintenance Management System

Technology: TMA (Maintenance Management System)

TMA (Maintenance Management System) at Mona - MITS implementation of contractor payroll facility which interfaces directly with Banner Finance for increased administrative efficiency and accountability. The team developed and implemented an interface for parts recovery in order to replenish the maintenance parts inventory.

Enterprise Risk Management


Technology: Resolver GRC Hosted web based

Resolver GRC is a hosted web based application currently being used by Management Audit to ensure compliance and by the Enterprise Risk Management to document, assess and rank risks to the strategic objectives. It is a shortlisted contender by Planning and Development to deploy Balance Scorecard methodology. It is to be used by all four campuses and the Vice Chancellery.
