EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

ELECTION – EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, MEMBERS

  • Executive Committee: responsible for providing oversight for the operations of UNICA. Comprised seven persons traditionally reflecting the diversity of the Association. A recommendation to increase the size to 8 was made in 1999. According to the constitution the size of the Executive Committee shall be determined from time to time by the AGM. Members should be proposed by the Nominating Committee and serve a term of 2 years and must retire at the end of each 2-year term and may serve no more than 3 consecutive 2-year terms. The Nominating Committee is appointed at the AGM by voting members when necessary to propose the members of the Executive Committee.

  •  Procedure for electing President and Vice Presidents: The President and Vice Presidents are proposed by the Nominating Committee from among members of the Executive Committee and are to serve a 2-year term of office.

  • The Constitution /Memorandum and Articles of the Association do not address the following issues: the Headquarters of the Secretariat, Definition of Caribbean, Role of Vice Presidents, Date of AGM except that not more than 15 months should elapse between the date of one annual general meeting of the association and that of the next; transferability of vote, financial dues, position of Treasurer. With regard to Membership, Paragraph 3 of the Constitution outlines the 3 categories of Membership. Paragraphs 25 –27 of the Constitution address the appointment and duties of the Secretary-General.
