About the 2025 One-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference

We are proud to announce the Third Postgraduate Student Conference (UWIPGCon25), hosted by The University of the West Indies (UWI)—the premier institution of higher education in the Caribbean. This year’s conference theme, Building Resilient Futures, is firmly rooted in the global vision of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In an era marked by climate change, inequality, economic shocks, and shifting geopolitical dynamics, building resilience has never been more critical. This conference invites postgraduate students to explore how their research can contribute to more sustainable, inclusive, and adaptable societies—both within the Caribbean and globally. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to generate actionable solutions aligned with the SDGs.

As a regional and international leader in higher education and research, UWI serves over 9,000 postgraduate students across five campuses, offering more than 700 programmes. Our institution is committed to academic excellence and societal advancement. The groundbreaking work of our postgraduate students is pivotal to this mission—and must be brought to the fore.

Recognising the untapped potential of student-led research, the School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) will host this virtual gathering to spotlight emerging voices and celebrate the contributions of postgraduate scholars. Their research and innovation are crucial to shaping the policies, technologies, and practices that will define a resilient future.

From November 12–15, 2025, UWIPGCon25 will convene postgraduate students across disciplines to share knowledge, foster dialogue, and inspire action. In alignment with the UN’s call for “a Summit of the Future to forge a new global consensus on readying ourselves for a future that is rife with risks but also opportunities,” this conference provides a timely platform for thought leadership and solution-building.
