Deika Morrison

Ms. Deika Morrison is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Development (The ISD), The University of the West Indies (The UWI). 

Ms. Morrison will strengthen the research capacity of the Institute with her wealth of experience from the private and public sector.

Ms. Morrison is a member of the Jamaica Institute of Environmental Professionals. She holds a Masters degree in Engineering Science from Harvard University; a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Environmental Systems, majoring in water and waste water systems cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, majoring in Finance, cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Morrison has worked as an Environmental Scientist in Florida; Chief Research Officer for a multinational financial institution; and also as a Senator and State Minister, in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Government of Jamaica. 

Ms. Morrison  is co-founder of “Mdk Advisory and Consulting Ltd”, a boutique advisory firm and  “Moonstone Blue”, a Media and Communications company which specialize in developing  business plans, communication and digital mobilization, diaspora engagement, operations and strategy. She is also co-founder of “Do Good Jamaica” and “Do Good International” non-profit charitable organizations, which focus on collaborations to improve the lives of people, including projects that support children and young people.

She has held various positions in organisations. These include Chair of the Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission; a member of the Economic Policy Committee of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica; the United Way Women’s Leadership Initiative; the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council and the Rotary Club of Kingston.  She is the current President of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Club in Jamaica.
