A SALISES-UWI and Haiti-Jamaica Society Outreach (SHOUT) project for Haiti

The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), at The University of the West Indies (UWI), has embarked on an outreach and support effort for the children of Haiti. In particular, we have launched a project, coordinated by Dr Patricia Northover, Senior Fellow, (SALISES) to support, in the first instance, a co-educational kindergarten and primary school, the Ecole Vision Mondiale, (Global Vision School), founded in 2005 and led by the Principal, Pastor Calixte Issalem. This school caters to some 200 children, boys and girls from ages 3-17, who reside near to the Haiti--Dominican Republic Border, in the region of Lascohobas. The institution is located in a depressed rural area in the Quimpe VI locality of the Lascahobas municipality, in the Central Department of Haiti and is registered with the Lascahobas School District Office (BDSL) at number 35.
